Leica M - Target of the NEX System

The new Leica M



This is the new Leica M camera and this is where the NEX system should be headed. The Leica M has technologies proven in NEX cameras such as focus peaking, detachable and tiltable electronic viewfinder, accepting other lenses via adapters, and a movie mode. The Leica M adds the following to the NEX system: a full frame sensor, rangefinder focusing system, a weather proof body, and a GPS accessory. The Leica M will be around $7000, around 6x the cost of the Sony NEX-7. Kudos to Leica.

    Kudos, really?! Leica is winning the race to the bottom. I love rangefinder but Leica is trying to compete where they cant. They should stick to what they do well. The whole point of a Leica is to minimize photography to its essential. Now we have video, and BAD video at that. EVF... Why?! There are SO many other cameras on the market that do this SO much better!

Use Medium Format Lenses with Sony A7 Cameras

Sony A7 ii with a Mamiya 645 80mm f/1.9 lens via Kipon Baveyes Focal Reducer. Here is a review of the Kipon Baveyes medium format lens focal reducer adapter for Sony A7 cameras.  This adapter has a lens element that concentrates the medium format image circle down to the size of a 24x36mm sensor of the Sony A7 cameras with a 0.7x factor.  The 80mm lens above has an equivalent focal length of 56mm.  The concentrated light also gives us one stop of extra light.  The f/1.9 is an equivalent f/1.36, a very fast medium format lens.
